The library will close early on Wednesday, November 24th, at 5pm. The library will be closed from Thursday, November 25th, to Saturday, November 27th. No items will be due and the book drop will remain open.

Have lots of POPPING fun with this Pom-Pom Popper! The kit includes:
Directions:
1 – Cut the bottom off of the paper cup.
2 – Tie a knot at the open end of the balloon.
3 – Cut the top 1/2 inch of the balloon off, keeping the larger part with the knot.
4 -Stretch the cut end of the balloon over the bottom of the cup.
5 – Use the rubber band to keep the balloon in place around the bottom of the cup.
6 – Place launch material inside the cup
7 – Pull back on the knotted balloon and release to launch
Use the other cups to try other launching materials – like cotton balls or marshmallows. What happens when you use a different sized cup or launch a different material? Grab a ruler or tape measure to collect data taking measurements for the distance traveled for the different poppers.

Ages 2-5
Using books and stories to help children think of their own solutions to problems helps them develop develop problem solving skills. Researchers have found that having ideas for tackling problems helps children in learning new tasks and handling social situations.
Find a book that revolves around a problem-solving situation to read with your child such as Karma Wilson’s, “Bear’s New Friend.” Introduce the book by setting up the problem. Then, when you approach the problem, ask your child what she might do to solve the situation. You can also read through the whole book and go back to the problem.

How many hugs is too many? This girl’s had enough! This humorous picture book explores compassion and the importance of setting boundaries.
