SPECIAL STORY TIME

Join us for a special story time with local author Ruth Nielson! She is the author and illustrator of I Am Remarkable: A Journey of Self-Discovery. Ruth will lead our little ones in a yoga session, so please bring a towel or mat for your child to participate!

SUMMER STEM

Summer STEM at your Library is here! Each Tuesday in June we will have activities that develop science, technology, engineering, and math skills.

  • June 13: Friends Who Love Physics Lab! Sponsored by Madisonhealth. This activity will be an hour longer, from 2-4 P.M.
  • June 20: Star Wars Friends Forever. Kids 6-8 years old will make light sabers and Star Wars bookmark friends. Kids 9-11 will make a Baby Yoda friend.
  • June 27: LEGO Club! Ages 6-18 are welcome to help us recreate Rexburg out of LEGOS!

Learn the art of chess and other games from the master of fun and strategy, Nick Allison. Game supplies will be provided.

School is out and the sun is (mostly) shining… that means it is now SUMMER READING! Sign up at the booth in the front foyer. You can also sign up through the app Beanstack.

Sign ups end July 23rd and the Summer Reading program ends on Saturday July 30th.

We’ve gone mad with MANCALA!

Join us for an outdoor Mancala madness party with squishy balls, buckets of water, and a lot of fun!

Bring a towel with you – we can’t guarantee you’ll stay dry!

Kid + Tween STEAM: Pom Pom Poppers!

Kid + Tween STEAM: Pom Pom Poppers!

Have lots of POPPING fun with this Pom-Pom Popper! The kit includes:

  • Paper clips
  • Balloons
  • Rubber bands
  • Launch material

Directions: 
1 – Cut the bottom off of the paper cup.
2 – Tie a knot at the open end of the balloon.
3 – Cut the top 1/2 inch of the balloon off, keeping the larger part with the knot.
4 -Stretch the cut end of the balloon over the bottom of the cup.
5 – Use the rubber band to keep the balloon in place around the bottom of the cup.
6 – Place launch material inside the cup
7 – Pull back on the knotted balloon and release to launch

Use the other cups to try other launching materials – like cotton balls or marshmallows. What happens when you use a different sized cup or launch a different material? Grab a ruler or tape measure to collect data taking measurements for the distance traveled for the different poppers.
