October Programs for Kids ‘n’ Tweens
Story Time, Toddler Time, & Book Babies
Monday - Wednesday

Ages 0-5
We have Story Time all month long! This October, we're having fun with the letter O for our older friends and hooting with owls for our littlest ones in the Community Room.
Our youngest patrons (ages 0–12 months, not yet walking) can join Book Babies with an adult on Wednesdays at 9:30 AM for songs, stories, baby sign language, movement, and sensory play. No Book Babies on October 28.
Walking toddlers ages 1–3 are invited to Toddler Time with an adult on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9:30 AM, featuring songs, stories, and sensory-building activities. No Toddler Time on October 5, 26, or 27.
And for ages 3–5, bring your child to Story Time on Tuesdays at 10:30 AM or 6:30 PM, and Wednesdays at 10:30 AM. This month we're exploring: Ouch! (Oct. 6-7), Octopus hugs (Oct. 13-14), Owls (Oct. 20-21), and Tricks or Treats! (Oct. 28).

Don your spooky fun costumes! Children ages 0–5 and their accompanying adults are invited to the Community Room on Wednesday, October 28, for Halloween stories, activities, and trick-or-treat fun. Choose from three sessions: 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, or 12:30 PM.
For families who'd prefer a quieter celebration, we're also offering a Sensory Sensitive option at 1:30 PM, designed with children with sensory sensitivities in mind.
Great Reads for Girls
Thursday, October 8

Ages 8-11
Girls ages 8–11 with an accompanying adult are in for a spooky one! We're reading Only If You Dare: 13 Stories of Darkness and Doom by Josh Allen — and Josh Allen himself is joining us to talk about how he builds a creepy story! We'll paint glow-in-the-dark monster rocks and dig into oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with ice cream.
Rubik's, Chess, & Game Club
Mondays

Ages 9-18
Grab a gaming friend and unplug at Chess, Game, and... Cubing Club! Hang out, meet new people, and play games like Chess, Mafia, and Monopoly Deal — plus, for the first time, Rubik's Cubes. No experience needed, just a desire to have fun. Meets Mondays, September 14, 21, and 28, from 4:00–5:30 PM, in the Community Room. Open to everyone ages 9–18.

Books for Boys
Boys ages 8–11 with an accompanying adult: this month we're reading 43 Old Cemetery Road: Dying to Meet You by Kate Klise, a spooky, funny story told entirely through letters and notes about a grumpy old man who moves into a supposedly haunted mansion and strikes up an unlikely friendship with the ghost living there. We'll make cheesecloth ghosts and snack on s'more ghost pops as we discuss the mystery of 43 Old Cemetery Road.

Free Family Friendly Films
Want to watch a fun movie on the big screen? We've got new favorites and classics lined up for an afternoon of movie fun. On Friday, October 16 at 3:30 PM we’re showing Toy Story 5 (PG). Parents should prescreen films for their little ones. All children 12 and under must be accompanied by someone age 14+.
Armchair Traveler Challenge: Unearth a Story
Reading is the perfect way to unearth information, entertainment, and understanding, and we are ready to delve into some great books! This year’s challenge has us grabbing our shovels and burrowing into the pages! Field Interns read one book for each challenge, earning stickers and opportunities to win prizes in our grand prize drawing.
Any reader who fulfills even a portion of their Artifact Journal will earn small prizes along the way, but readers who complete all 10 Inventory Logs will earn the 2026 Armchair Traveler Intern Prize.
