It is the month of April which means: THE END OF THE IDAHO TEEN READING CHALLENGE! Come to talk about what books you read and how you liked reading different types of books.

REGENCY TEA PARTY

Saturday April 30th. 9am & 11am.

This is a ticketed event. Join authors Sarah M. Eden, Joanna Barker, Sian Ann Bessey, and Esther Hatch for a Regency Tea Party. The event will include a Q&A session, behind-the-scenes insights, giveaways, and more! Each attendee will be treated to baked goods, SWAG, and a one-of-a-kind experience with some of their favorite authors. Dress up in period costume if you’d like.

Art Deco is a term used for a specific style of design that was popular in the 1920’s. Create your own work of art using Art Deco as inspiration.

Materials needed:

Mat board
Template
Two tones of duct tape (to create contrast)
Clear tape (to tape on template)
Exacto knife
Tweezers

SHELF SURFERS: BOOK HANGOUT FOR TEENS

Madison Bibliomaniacs has now become SHELF SURFERS. This is a BOOK HANGOUT FOR TEENS, where you have fun activities and chat about books.

Come and play REVERSE CHARADES – one person guesses while a group of people act out the word or phrase! The theme will be “Lost in the Hundred Acre Woods,” to tie in with our “On the Same Page” book Winnie-the-Pooh. You’ll also get to make YUMMY honey cake pops!

For ages 12-18.

ON THE SAME PAGE: A VERY POOH-RIFFIC BIRTHDAY

Friday, February 25th, from 7:30-9pm

Winnie-the-Pooh ends with a birthday party; and since it’s the library’s birthday as well, this seems a fitting ending for 2022’s On the Same Page. Join us for cake and ice cream, balloon animals, pin the tail on Eeyore, and other activities. We’ll also look at photos taken on last week’s Stuffed Animal Sleepover and make sure our friends didn’t get into any mischief.

DECEMBER Activities

TEEN ACTION COUNCIL

Meet with other teens to plan and decide on library activities.

Wednesday, December 1st from 4-5:30pm in the Community Room. For ages 12-18.

SNOW MUCH FUN: CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA

Santa is coming to the library! Celebrate the upcoming holidays by coming to the library to make crafts, have delicious treats, and meet Santa.

Monday December 6th from 5-7pm. Santa will begin visits at 4:30pm. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For all ages.

COMBINED BOOK CLUB FOR TWEENS

Books for Boys and the Mother Daughter Book Club will be combined for the month of December. The book is The Last Holiday Concert by Andrew Clements.From Goodreads:

“For Hart Evans, being the most popular kid in sixth grade has its advantages. Kids look up to him, and all the teachers let him get away with anything — all the teachers except the chorus director, Mr. Meinert. Every Tuesday the library shows a Family Friendly Film at 4pm in the Community Room.

GAME AND CHESS CLUB

Come learn the game of chess, plus other fun games!

Every Monday from 4:30-5:30pm in the Community Room.

For the month of December, Game and Chess Club will be meeting on the 13th and 20th only.

For ages 9-18.

CLOSED FOR CHRISTMAS

We will be closed December 24 – 27th for the Christmas holiday. No items will be due and the book drop will remain open. Have a safe and wonderful holiday!

IDAHO TEEN READING CHALLENGE

8 Books · 7 months · 1 state

Teens are challenged to read 8 books in these categories:

The challenge will run from October to April. Once completed, head to the link below to fill out the form to enter in a drawing; there will be 3 $100 gift cards up for grabs.

GAME & CHESS CLUB

For November, teens will get together to discuss poetry and verse with local author, Josh Allen. If able, please bring a notebook and pencil.
