Mafia Competition & 1930s Costume Contest
Trust no one. Tweens and teens ages 9–18: play a straight-shooting citizen, a savvy detective, or undercover Mafia, and see if you can survive the vote in this high-stakes social deduction showdown. Plus, show off your best 1930s look in our costume contest — prizes for Mob Boss Mentality, Plot Twist, and DIY Danger. Monday, October 26 from 4:00–5:30 PM in the Community Room.

Teens ages 12–18, flock together for a corvid-themed party! Make your own crow mask, bring trinkets to trade, play crow-ish games, and try your luck with a Trinket Trove Mystery Scoop. We'll have food and drinks while you gather with fellow teens for this mysterious Teentober celebration. 

Teens ages 12–18, the statewide reading challenge from the Idaho Commission for Libraries runs October 2026 through April 2027! Read 8 books across 10 different categories to complete it.
Sign up at our Children's Reference desk, Madison Jr. High or Madison High School libraries, or online with the Beanstack app. Track your progress in Beanstack or with paper tracking sheets, journals, or bookmarks available at all three libraries. Collect a prize at the Children's Reference desk or during visiting librarian days at school after each book you finish — and everyone who completes the challenge is entered to win a $30 gift card, drawn May 1.

Reading is the perfect way to unearth information, entertainment, and understanding, and we are ready to delve into some great books! This year’s challenge has us grabbing our shovels and burrowing into the pages! Field Techs will read one book for each challenge, earning stickers and opportunities to win prizes in our grand prize drawing.

Any reader who fulfills even a portion of their Artifact Journal will earn small prizes along the way, but readers who complete all 10 Inventory Logs will earn the 2026 Armchair Traveler Field Tech Prize.
