Storytime: L is for Lions

by | Mar 26, 2025 | Blog, Kid's Corner, Story Time | 0 comments

Why don’t lions like fast food? Because they can’t catch it! Lions are fascinating animals that live in family groups called prides, which can have up to 30 lions. They’re incredible jumpers, and their roar can be heard up to five miles away! Did you know that baby lions, or cubs, are born with spots on their fur? Lions truly are amazing creatures.

Join us Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. or Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room.

Counting Down… Ten Little Lions

10 little lions, roaring so loud,
2 ran away and joined the crowd.
Now there are 8 lions left to play,
Counting down, we’re on our way!

8 little lions, running with glee,
3 took a nap beneath a tree.
Now there are 5 lions, proud as can be,
Counting down, just wait and see!

5 little lions, crouching in the grass,
3 jumped up and ran really fast!
Now there are 2 lions left to play,
Counting down, they’re on their way!

2 little lions, having some fun,
1 went to sleep when the day was done.
Now there’s 1 lion in the sun,
Counting down, but we’re not yet done!

1 little lion, all alone,
He went to sleep and softly groaned.
Now there are 0 lions, all are gone,
The counting is finished, the rhyme is done!

If You’re a Lion and You Know It

(To the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know It”)
If you’re a lion and you know it, roar out loud! (Roar!)
If you’re a lion and you know it, roar out loud! (Roar!)
If you’re a lion and you know it,
Then your roar will surely show it,
If you’re a lion and you know it, roar out loud! (Roar!)

If you’re a lion and you know it, stomp your paws! (Stomp, stomp!)
If you’re a lion and you know it, stomp your paws! (Stomp, stomp!)
If you’re a lion and you know it,
Then your paws will surely show it,
If you’re a lion and you know it, stomp your paws! (Stomp, stomp!)

If you’re a lion and you know it, jump up high! (Jump, jump!)
If you’re a lion and you know it, jump up high! (Jump, jump!)
If you’re a lion and you know it,
Then you’ll leap and touch the sky,
If you’re a lion and you know it, jump up high! (Jump, jump!)

If you’re a lion and you know it, take a nap! (Zzzz…)
If you’re a lion and you know it, take a nap! (Zzzz…)
If you’re a lion and you know it,
Then it’s time to rest and show it,
If you’re a lion and you know it, take a nap! (Zzzz…)

One named Soft and one named Loud!
