Midday Meetup Book Club
Prefer to talk books over lunch? Our midday book club is Thursday, September 10 from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM in the Community Room to discuss Daniel James Brown’s The Boys in the Boat. A great option if evenings don’t work with your schedule.
Dungeons & Dragons
Calling all adventurers! Dive into a world of imagination, strategy, and camaraderie with our Dungeons & Dragons program for adults. Whether you’re a seasoned Dungeon Master or a curious first-timer, come battle fearsome foes and shape your own story in the world’s greatest tabletop role-playing game. New players get pre-made characters and guidance to get started. Sessions meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, September 15 and September 29, from 5:30–7:30 PM, in the Community Room.
Creative Writing Club
Calling all wordsmiths ages 18+! Share your work in progress with fellow storytelling enthusiasts, or just come to talk about why writing matters to you. Come Tuesday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 30 at 6:00 PM in the Community Room, with future sessions in October.
Puzzle People
Grab a seat at the table and help piece together a puzzle while chatting with fellow puzzlers. This laid-back, drop-in style program meets Thursday, September 17 from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM in the Community Room, with additional dates in October and November.
Talk, Play, Grow:
How Everyday Conversations Build a Child’s Future
For parents and children ages 0–4. Learn how everyday talk and play prepare young children for reading, school, and life, presented by Dr. David Allen from Brigham Young University–Idaho. Sponsored by Idaho AEYC and Madison ELAC. Parents will meet with Dr. Allen for 30 minutes while children enjoy activities in the Community Room, then families reunite to apply what they’ve learned together. The class is free, but space is limited — online sign-up is required. Thursday, September 17, 6:30–7:30 PM in the Community Room.
Batik!
Learn the art of batik as you dye, wax, and re-dye a scarf into a design that’s uniquely yours. This free hands-on course builds week to week, so plan to attend all three sessions in the Community Room starting September 17 at 2 PM. Future dates are October 15 and November 19. Take a Break Book Club
Join us for Take a Break Book Club on Thursday, June 25 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room as we discuss Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. Whether you’re a regular or a newcomer, we’d love to hear your thoughts. 18+ only. Copies of the book are available at the Circulation Desk.
Adult Makers
There are two chances to join Adult Makers this September! Friday, September 25 from 7:00–8:00 PM, or Thursday, September 24 from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM, both in the Community Room. Participants will use wood burners to create a small hanging sign to take home — no experience necessary, just bring your creativity.
Family Friendly Films
Want to watch a fun movie on the big screen? We’ve got new favorites and classics lined up for an afternoon of movie fun. Parents, please prescreen films for your children. All children 12 and under must be accompanied by someone age 14+. This month we’re showing:

Armchair Traveler Challenge
Reading is the perfect way to unearth information, entertainment, and understanding, and we are ready to delve into some great books! This year’s challenge has us grabbing our shovels and burrowing into the pages! Field Techs will read one book for each challenge, earning stickers and opportunities to win prizes in our grand prize drawing.
Any reader who fulfills even a portion of their Artifact Journal will earn small prizes along the way, but readers who complete all 10 Inventory Logs will earn the 2026 Armchair Traveler Field Tech Prize. Sign up at the Circulation desk and grab your Artifact Journal to get started!
