Crafty Corner

Join us for Crafty Corner, an informal meet-up for adults 18+ who love to create! Bring your knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, or whatever craft you enjoy, and spend an evening with fellow makers.

Poirot’s Garden: Early Sowing

Join us on Friday, March 6 at 7:00 PM for Poirot’s Garden, where we will explore the quintessential retirement hobby taken up by Agatha Christie’s famous detective—gardening! Retired or not, gardening is a popular pastime in our area, and with our short growing season, getting an early start makes all the difference. Jarod Gibbons from the University of Idaho County Extension Office will share expert tips on how to begin now for a bountiful harvest. Suitable for adults and teens, this event is perfect for anyone ready to cultivate their own garden!

Free Family Friendly Films

Grab your popcorn and join us for Free Family Friendly Films on Fridays at 3:30 PM in the Community Room! This March, we’re diving into friendship and fairy tales. On March 6th, blast off with Pixar’s Elio (rated PG) as a young dreamer becomes Earth’s intergalactic ambassador in an out-of-this-world adventure. Then on March 20th, discover wonder with Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (rated PG), a stunning reimagining of the classic tale about a wooden boy who comes to life. All ages are welcome for these magical afternoon screenings. See you at the movies!

Poirot’s Game: Mahjong

Join us for Poirot’s Game: Mahjong! On Tuesday, March 10 at 6:00 PM in the Community Room, patrons will have the chance to learn the classic tile game of mahjong. Once all the rage in the 1920s — right in the heart of Agatha Christie’s golden era — this beloved game is making a comeback. Whether you’re a complete beginner or just looking to brush up on the rules, come ready to play!

Poirot’s Table: Cooking the Books

All month long we’re celebrating the mysteries of Agatha Christie, and we’re inviting adults 18+ to join us for Poirot’s Table: Cooking the Books on Friday, March 20 at 7:00 PM in the Community Room. Sign up at the display near the Circulation desk and choose a recipe from either Karen Pierce’s Recipes for Murder (featuring dishes inspired by Christie’s beloved detective novels) or Regula Ysewijn’s The British Baking Book (a tribute to the classic British treats that graced Christie’s era). Make a copy of your chosen recipe at the Reference desk, prepare it at home, and bring your creation to share with fellow mystery-loving foodies! Come ready to taste, discuss, and celebrate the delicious intersection of food and fiction. Sign up soon and let’s get cooking!
