Computers

And Internet Access

The library has public access internet computers available for patron and guest use. We provide free broadband Wireless internet access for those with their own laptops and devices. We have access to a large number of online databases and other online resources, many of which are provided through our partnership with the Idaho Commission for Libraries via their LiLI portal.

We also have educational gaming computers for children that are not connected to the internet.

Public Computers

  • Located in the “General” section of the library on the east side of the building;
  • 8 computer workstations for patron and guest use;
  • High-speed internet access and a variety of software;
  • Printing is available from the public computers at a cost of ¢10 per page + tax;
  • Login by entering all 14 digits without any spaces. Most patrons have been automatically assigned a 4-digit PIN that is the last four digits of their telephone number;
  • Guest passes available for adults over 18 with a photo ID;
  • A copy machine is available for scanning to an email address or thumb drive. (If you don’t have a thumb drive they are available for purchase at the general area reference and circulation desk.)

Requirements for Use:

  • All library fines must be paid;
  • Agree to abide by the library’s Patron Computer Agreement;
  • Children under 18 must have their parent’s or legal guardian’s permission to use the internet. Forms are available at the Circulation and both Reference Desks.

Wi-Fi

  • Unsecured broadband wireless internet access is available throughout the library building for those with their own laptops;
  • Simply find the network “madisonlib.org” and select it.  As the network is unsecured, there is no password;
  • The library does not provide access to wireless printing. Instead, documents can be opened on a public computer to print;
  • The library does not provide laptops or other portable digital devices.  Patrons must bring their own equipment to use the Wi-Fi service.

Children’s Computers

  • The library has four children’s computers loaded with educational games for patron and guest use;
