Flood 50

A Community-Wide Commemoration

The City of Rexburg is featuring a week-long commemoration from June 1 to June 6, 2026, to mark this historic anniversary. Built on three pillars – Remember, Connect, and Serve – the week invites you to:

  • Remember through stories, exhibits, and tours
  • Connect through fun community events
  • Serve through hands-on projects that give back

Everyone is encouraged to join in, whether you lived through the flood, or just heard stories later on.

Commemoration at the Library

The Madison Library District is proud to be part of the city-wide events. We have several activities for our patrons to participate in, including displays of photographs and flood memorabilia, take-home kits, and options to pay it forward.

Pay it Forward

In the aftermath of the Teton Dam Flood, hundreds of neighbors donated books to help rebuild our library’s collection — an act of generosity that we still remember today.

That same spirit lives on in the American Library Association Disaster Relief Fund, which helps libraries across the country recover after floods, fires, and other disasters.

Our community was lifted up when we needed it most. Help us pay that forward.
