SPECIAL TRUSTEE BOARD MEETING
Minutes
Friday, May 21, 2010
A special board meeting was held at 12:30pm on Friday, May 21, 2010. Present at the meeting were Blaine Robertson, Pam Beard, Henry Benavidez, and Judy Dewey, secretary.
New Library
Concrete and Asphalt Testing
It had come to the attention of the director in the morning on Friday that testing and inspection of the concrete and asphalt, set to be poured and installed Monday morning, was necessary. The cost being beyond what the director could approve for the month, three board members held an emergency meeting. The board approved one inspection and test of the concrete for the curbs and gutters and one inspection and test of the asphalt. Pam made the motion, Henry seconded the motion, and all voted in favor.
CRSA Architects
A discussion was also held regarding the frustration the board and the director have felt in dealing with the architects. So many things were missed in the plans that an excessive number of Requests for Information, Proposal Requests, Change Order Requests, and actual Change Orders have been issued. The architects have admitted that two major steps in the planning were overlooked. One was their own quality review done by an architect in their firm in Salt Lake City. The other was the review with the library director. Judy brought up the point that the library was also never informed that outside testing and inspection was required and that the library would be bearing the burden of the costs for this. Many things were never discussed with the library, among those being the light fixtures and placement of light switches.
Blaine will draft a letter to the architects and circulate it among the board members before sending it.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:50 pm upon Henry’s motion.
