SPECIAL TRUSTEE BOARD MEETING

Minutes

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 12:02 pm by Blaine Robertson, chairman. Board members present were Blaine Robertson, Gordon Timothy, Henry Benavidez, Jeniel Facer, Pam Beard, and Judy Dewey, secretary. Valerie Vail, assistant director of the library, was also present.

PSR Workers in the Library

The human resource administrator from Human Dynamics & Diagnostics LLC was welcomed by Blaine. She explained the role of PSR workers and what they should and should not be doing with their clients in a public place such as the library. When told that children were discussing private family matters with the workers, she informed the board this was not at all appropriate in the library setting. It became apparent during the discussion that the PSR workers probably need more training. She is willing to help with any information the board may need as they work to resolve this issue.

Blaine has talked with the editor of the Standard Journal who has had no feedback from the public on this issue. The ADA Task Force and the Family Advocates for the Disabled have contacted Blaine and are willing to help in any way they can.

Addition Progress

The board discussed the ceiling in the children’s programming room. The plans called for an unfinished ceiling painted black or a very dark blue above the clouds. There had been discussion about putting in the dropped acoustical ceiling. After walking through the room, the board decided to leave the ceiling as called for in the plans, reserving the option to put in the acoustical ceiling later if it is needed for sound absorption or esthetic considerations.

The library provided sandwiches for the board members which, due to time restraints, most board members took with them.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 1:15 pm.
