TRUSTEE BOARD MEETING

Minutes

January 31, 2005

A short, emergency meeting of the board of directors was held on Monday, January 31, at 5:00 pm. Present were Blaine Robertson, Gordon Timothy, Brent Eames, Roger Jackson, and Judith Dewey. Tricia Galer asked to be excused because of illness.

The purpose of the meeting was to consider the LDS Church’s counteroffer of $117,000 for the Beehive property. The meeting included a tour of the building. The discussion took place in the Beehive facility and included present and future possible uses of the building. Judy was given the assignment of checking with Frank Nelson, the state library’s eastern field representative, regarding whether or not the library could buy the building and then lease it until needed. [It was determined the next day that the library could lease the building out. An email was sent to all board members.]

It was the board’s opinion that the church’s counteroffer was too high. And given the fact it is not certain whether the library will stay at its present location, the uncertainty of adding onto the present building, and continued parking problems even if the property were purchased, the board did not feel inclined to counteroffer. Voting was done by email after the possibility of leasing was checked out. Copies of the emails are attached.

The meeting lasted about 40 minutes.
