TRUSTEE BOARD MEETING

Minutes

May 25, 2004

The meeting was called to order at 5:05 pm by Chairman Brent Eames. Board members present were Brent Eames, Tricia Galer, Gordon Timothy, Blaine Robertson, and Roger Jackson. The minutes of the last meeting were approved. The bills were approved, and the checks paying the bills were signed.

The oath of office was administered to Blaine Robertson, he being the only candidate who ran in the election. The board welcomed him for another five year term.

The new Deseret Industries / Distribution Center is nearly ready to open. Blaine has emailed the LDS Church regarding our desire to purchase the present Distribution Center, but he has received no answer.

A discussion regarding increasing vacation time for the staff had been tabled earlier this year. The board decided new hires would receive one week of vacation, accruable during the first year. The board also decided some sort of incremental increase up to 4 weeks would be appropriate. Using these parameters, Roger will provide at the next meeting some scenarios for the board to vote on.

A patron, Eileen Wilcox, filed a formal complaint (attached) against the book Dogs Don’t Tell Jokes by Louis Sachar. Judy could not find the book for the board to look at during the meeting but will make it available at the circulation desk. A decision regarding its removal/retention will be made at the next meeting.

Brent will write a letter to TRW regarding items left undone at the conclusion of the Webster Room remodeling project.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm.
